Finding what her mother left behind
Alix found pieces of my mom's estate that I didn't even know existed.
When Mallory Evans's mother passed away without a will, Mallory found herself responsible for an estate with no clear roadmap. There was no document telling her what existed, where to look, or what the law required of her. What she didn't expect was how much there was to find—and how much she didn't yet know to look for.
Her mother left no will. That meant starting from zero.
Mallory had never navigated probate before. The process came with applications to file, court deadlines to track, and legal language that, as she put it, "flew over her head." Working with Alix changed that. Her Alix Settlement Specialist broke down each step in plain terms, made sure Mallory understood what was happening and why, and treated her as a real participant in the process.
Alix broke it down so I could understand legal jargon in a way that made sense to me. I felt like a part of the team.
But the work went beyond translation. Because her mother had passed intestate, parts of the estate were effectively invisible. There were accounts and assets that had no clear owner on paper. Alix dug into the details and surfaced what might otherwise have gone unclaimed.
The practical tasks added up too, such as selling her mother's car, managing assets across the estate, and filing for probate.
Alix did a wonderful job of digging deep and finding different assets and pieces of my mom's estate that otherwise would have gone unnoticed.
THE RESULTS
Everything found. Everything handled.
What surprised Mallory most wasn't the difficulty of any single task. It was the sheer scope of the process: the applications, the waiting periods, the deadlines she hadn't known existed. Having Alix meant she didn't have to figure it out alone, or risk getting it wrong.
"When I look back over the last year of all of the things Alix has helped me accomplish," she said, "I don't know how I would have done any of those things alone."
